Electronics Design Engineer

Role

You will own Hive Robotics’ electronic hardware portfolio from prototyping to serial production. You will be part of the engineering team and be responsible for layout, prototyping, and designing a variety of electronic components and products. This will range from high-speed and RF circuit board for next generation robotic systems. This role will focus on PCB layout using Cadence Allegro/OrCAD working closely with the hardware and software architects to create robust designs that meet performance, size and power constraints for mission critical embedded systems

Responsibilities

Develop schematics and PCB layouts in Cadence Allegro / OrCAD for high-speed digital and RF subsystems.
Optimize component placement and routing for signal integrity, impedance control, and EMI/EMC compliance.
Collaborate with hardware architects to define stack-ups, layer counts, and design rules.
Support hardware bring-up and validation of new boards.
Work with software teams to ensure hardware–firmware compatibility and system performance.
Coordinate with deployment and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth product introduction.
Document designs, review schematics, and implement revisions as needed.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (CE, FCC, EMC, safety)
Liasion with the production team and ensure a robust and steady serial production
Support in make/buy core/non-core strategies for electronic devices

Requirements

Master’s degree in electrical and/or computer engineering
5+ years of experience in mechatronics, hardware prototyping, and industrialization of electronic equipment (robotics, automotive, consumer electronics, or related fields).
Proficiency with Cadence Allegro/OrCad for schematic capture and layout
Strong experience in high-speed board design and RF layout techniques
Proven track record of taking at least one electronic hardware product from prototype to serial-production.
Hands-on experience in electronic hardware setup, testing and validation including needed tools
Detail-oriented, with strong communication and documentation skills
Experience in embedded systems for robotics, UAV’s or wireless communication is a plus
Based in or willing to relocate to Munich.
Proficient in German (must) and English (required).

Experience with robotic systems (drones, UGVs, maritime platforms)
Experience in international industrial
Knowledge of testing standards (e.g., EMC, environmental, reliability)
Background as RC/drone pilot or hobbyist interest in robotics
Software knowledge for production testing or data tracking
